Wako University is considered a grade F university, but what is its actual situation? I not only want to know the academic scores but also the reputation of the university.
Although it has a less favorable evaluation, it is still a fairly standard private university. When you search for Wako University online, you may come across some negative reviews, such as claims that they "exaggerate the deviation score." However, some of these are not the university's fault.

The Reputation and Evaluation of Wako University
The Bad Reputation of Wako University ①: The Essence of Wako is Slowly Fading Away
The traditional Wako atmosphere is gradually disappearing, and it’s probably best not to try to adapt to the times anymore.
The comment is too abstract and unclear, but the original poster likely has a deep affection for the old Wako University.
The Bad Reputation of Wako University ②: Poor Location
The university is quite far from the Odakyu Line’s Tamagawa Gakuen Station and Tsurukawa Station, and it is situated in a mountainous area, meaning students must climb a hill to reach the campus.
While the appearance is great, the location is very poor.
Poor geographical location for universities is common, as building a university on a large piece of land near a train station is quite difficult.
The Bad Reputation of Wako University ③: Mixed Reviews
The third negative aspect of Wako University is its poor reputation.
Based on Google reviews, a notable number of people tend to use offensive language.
Private universities tend to have lower academic standards, and the quality of those writing reviews is also lower—this is an unfortunate reality.
Wako University Review ①: Female / Department of General Cultural Studies, Faculty of Performance / Current Student / 2024 Enrollment
Overall Evaluation
Because I can study a wide variety of subjects, I think it's a great choice for someone who hasn't yet decided what they want to focus on. Additionally, many of the professors are very interesting and friendly.
Lectures / Courses
The advantage of the General Cultural Studies department is that it requires fewer subjects compared to other departments, and I can take a wide range of courses. It’s very interesting because we even have classes where we watch familiar anime and manga.
Employment / Further Education
I'm still a freshman, so I'm not sure, but I haven't heard anyone say that it isn't enough.
Transportation / Location
It’s less than a 20-minute walk from Tsurukawa Station on the Odakyu Line. The slope in front of the school is steep, so it’s harder to walk in the summer. However, there is a school bus. It’s not that you can’t board, but it can get very crowded. However, the university is surrounded by a lot of greenery, so it’s nice to walk around.
I don’t have any major complaints. It’s beautiful. The hotel has air conditioning and a fully equipped restaurant.
Friends / Romance
I'm not sure about other departments, but in the General Cultural Studies department, the classes are seminar-style starting from the first year, so making friends isn’t a problem.
Student Life
There are various types, but many people don’t belong to any clubs.
Wako University Review ②: Female / Department of Psychology and Education, Faculty of Modern Anthropology / Current Student / 2024 Enrollment
Overall Evaluation
Aside from potential internal conflicts due to the small number of students, it is still a normal university, so I find it a comfortable environment, regardless of its pros and cons.
Lectures / Courses
The courses aren’t particularly difficult, and the teachers are relatively average, so learning progresses smoothly. However, depending on the teacher, there may be success or failure, so you should be cautious.
Employment / Further Education
They even offer career counseling for first-year students, so I think they provide comprehensive support in this area.
Transportation / Location
It takes about 15 minutes to walk from Tsurukawa Station, and most of the way is uphill, so the journey can be difficult. There are too few buses.
I’ve never had any major complaints about the facilities or equipment, but there is a significant difference between the new and old restrooms.
Friends / Romance
Due to the small size of the department, any conflicts can be troublesome, so I hope we’re the only ones caught up in them.
Student Life
There are various activities held here from time to time, and flyers are distributed, so I think it’s a very fulfilling place.
Wako University Review ③: Male / Department of Economic Evaluation, Faculty of Economics and Business Administration / Current Student / 2023 Enrollment
Overall Evaluation
Theses and seminars are not compulsory. There are very few required subjects, and as long as you don’t fail, you can graduate with enough credits.
The lectures are very interesting because you can learn economics from various fields.
The economics department has many excellent professors, and the courses are usually quite engaging.
However, if you choose elective courses without much thought, you may not enjoy university life.
Lectures / Courses
One unique feature of the university is that almost all courses are open to students from other departments, allowing you to study subjects you’re interested in.
The course quality is quite high for a university in this deviation range, as there are fairly professional lecturers and well-regarded professors.
However, students' attitudes during classes are often poor, making many courses less enjoyable.
Employment / Further Education
The employment rate is quite low, and it’s almost impossible to get a job at a large company.
However, the career support department is solid, and the employment courses in class are quite thorough, so if you are serious about job hunting, you can secure a job at a company or position you want.
Transportation / Location
The nearest station is Tsurukawa Station on the Odakyu Line.
Basically, only regular trains stop here, but due to the many universities and facilities nearby, the station is often very crowded. Before classes, it takes about four minutes to get from the uphill platform to the downhill platform’s ticket gate.
Additionally, fatal accidents frequently occur here. The transportation is inconvenient. You can walk, but it takes 15 minutes, and you must climb uphill to reach the university. There is a school bus, but the number of buses has decreased since 2024, even though there were only a few to begin with.
There are two bus stations, so buses can be slightly dispersed, but they are basically overloaded.
If they can continue to run regularly, even if only every 15 minutes, the number of users and congestion would improve.
The new campus buildings are clean and sturdy, but some of the older buildings are somewhat uncomfortable. However, facilities for departments like arts and psychology seem to be quite well-equipped.
Friends / Romance
It’s been a very fulfilling experience. If you want, you can make friends and even find a boyfriend or girlfriend.
At a university with this level of deviation, you might think most students are bad, but there are also average students, and occasionally, very smart students.
However, the school’s security is poor, so there are many troublesome students.
Student Life
There are quite a few clubs, most of which are officially recognized, but there are also some unofficial clubs that organize activities. Some clubs even collaborate with the university to host events.
