On the 9th, UK-based travel research company Skytrax announced the global best airport rankings, with Singapore Changi Airport ranking first, marking its 13th time receiving this honor.
Changi Airport is a destination in itself. The introduction of early check-in allows passengers to check luggage up to 48 hours before their flight, turning their time at the airport into part of their vacation.
Many visitors explore Jewel Changi, a massive 10-story shopping complex. By 2024, Jewel Changi is expected to attract 80 million visitors. The complex features multiple indoor gardens, the world’s largest indoor artificial waterfall, “Rain Vortex” (40 meters tall), as well as a spa, hotel, art exhibitions, a museum, a cinema, and even a dinosaur-themed park.
Changi Airport is also renowned as a food paradise, winning the “World’s Best Airport Dining” award announced by Skytrax on the same day.

Asia Dominates the Top
Based on Skytrax’s survey of passengers at 565 airports worldwide, the second-best airport globally is Qatar’s Hamad International Airport, adorned with artwork and exquisite architecture. It is considered one of the most luxurious airports in the world. It also won the Best Airport Shopping award.
The top three to six spots are all held by Asian airports, once again proving that Asia is surpassing North America and Europe in aviation excellence.
Japan’s Haneda Airport ranks third, South Korea’s Incheon International Airport ranks fourth, followed by Narita International Airport and Hong Kong International Airport. Haneda Airport also received the “World’s Cleanest Airport” title.
Airports ranked seventh and below are Charles de Gaulle International Airport (France), Leonardo da Vinci International Airport (Italy), Munich Airport (Germany), and Zurich-Kloten International Airport (Switzerland).
