Evaluation of Hiroshima University of Economics ①: Female Student / Media Business Department / Current Student / 2024 Enrollment
Overall Evaluation
For students interested in television, video production, and the advertising industry, I highly recommend this department. There are many interesting courses that cannot be taken in other departments.
Some courses even require students to obtain company interview permissions and handle all interviews, filming, interviews, and editing themselves. This is a great experience and a fun way to learn about media.
You can also decide on your own topics, allowing you to choose what you want to convey to others.
This is also an opportunity to express your appeals and the information you want to know.
If you want to learn about media in an interesting way, this department is for you.
Lectures/Courses
I think this department places great importance on academic subjects.
Some courses involve students working in groups to produce documentaries, while others have students group-produce television programs, from content creation to classroom presentation, which students must complete themselves. Directors, timers, cameramen, hosts, and on-screen guests are all students, each taking on different roles. Compared to other departments, there are more practical courses to experience here, which is very interesting.
I believe those who love producing visual works or are interested in the television industry will have a lot of fun here.
I think many students have unique personalities.
The class size is smaller than in other departments, making it easy to make friends.
Employment/Further Education
I am still a first-year student, so I am not familiar with job support and other situations.
My seniors told me that as the job hunting period approaches, there will be job hunting guidance, and the staff at the employment center are very attentive, providing help in your weak areas. I think this support is very thoughtful; some seniors successfully received job offers from their first-choice companies after repeated practice in the difficult interview phase.
Additionally, career seminars are held for all grades, allowing even first-year students to participate, learn about various companies, and hear job-hunting experiences from seniors.
Transportation/Location
Since the school is located on a high mountain, students usually take a school bus to and from school. There are many buses, so I have no complaints, but during regular exams and busy times (especially when trains from Hiroshima arrive), buses can get very crowded. If you cannot get on the bus you want, you might be late for class. Therefore, we recommend that those commuting allow enough time when it is crowded.
Driving to school is prohibited, but riding motorcycles and bicycles is allowed, so we recommend obtaining a motorcycle license.
There is an Aeon nearby, making shopping and dining very convenient, and there are many supermarkets, convenience stores, pharmacies, and restaurants, making it fine to live alone.
Since I am in the Media Business Department, I often have opportunities to use studios, etc.
It has beautiful facilities and various photography equipment that other universities do not have.
There are two dining areas, so it is not too crowded to find a seat.
Another advantage of this school is that there is a convenience store on campus.
Additionally, there are rooms for female students only.
We also recommend using this space when you have free time to be alone.
Friends/Romance
In the Media Business Department, courses often involve teamwork, making it easy to expand your circle of friends.
Additionally, there are introductory seminars for first-year students, where students are divided into seminars of about 10 people. I feel reassured knowing I can seek advice from friendly seminar teachers.
It is easy to make friends there; we held sports events in the seminar, and after enrollment, we went to Etajima for training, so I could open up to people quickly, and making friends was not difficult at all.
If you join clubs or extracurricular activities, I think you can expand your circle of friends not only within your department but also with students from other departments.
Student Life
There are many strong clubs participating in national competitions. I think baseball, soccer, athletics, and handball teams are strong.
There are many student-initiated projects, such as broadcasting, traveling abroad, interacting with international students, and reducing vegetable waste. I think it's great that you can participate in multiple projects you are interested in.
