Reputation and Reviews of Kaetsu University
Reputation ①: Poor Location
There’s nothing around, making it quite boring.
A small university situated amidst shopping streets and residential areas.
While Kaetsu University’s location doesn’t seem particularly bad, it is often criticized for being inconvenient.

Behind the university, there is a park, which makes the campus quite appealing—especially for those who grew up in the countryside.
Reputation ②: Professor Takahashi's Controversial Remarks
It’s unsettling that this university employs Professor Takahashi, known for his controversial "Ripple" remarks.
While saying "it's dangerous because Professor Takahashi is here" may be an exaggeration, his remarks indeed stirred significant controversy.
For more information on the "Ripple" remarks, refer to a clear and accessible article from the Tokyo Shimbun.
Reputation ③: Staff Layoffs Due to Financial Struggles
Due to financial difficulties, the university has merged into a single faculty, and the facilities are insufficient.
As the comment suggests, the university has indeed consolidated its faculties.
Currently, there are two faculties, but the Faculty of Business Innovation is no longer accepting applications.
Once the current students graduate, the Faculty of Business Innovation will cease to exist, leaving only the Faculty of Business and Economics.
As a result, the number of students and faculty in the Faculty of Business Innovation is quite limited.
Review of Kaya University ①: Male / Faculty of Business and Economics / Enrolled in 2023
Overall Evaluation
I think it’s great because you can study in a way that suits you. If you want to study, you can focus, and if you want to enjoy your time, there is ample opportunity for that as well.
Lectures & Courses
Sometimes, students find ways to cheat on attendance checks, but overall, the courses are easy to follow. However, some professors have grading criteria that are difficult to understand.
Employment & Career Advancement
The employment rate exceeds 90%, which is quite impressive. The Career Design course offers great support for job hunting.
Transportation & Location
Many students commute by bicycle or on foot. There is a FamilyMart on campus where some students buy their meals. The facilities are old, so I hope they get renovated. However, any damage is repaired quickly, which is reassuring.
Friendships & Relationships
It’s easy to make friends, especially if you join a club. If you’re looking for a boyfriend or girlfriend, you just need to engage with upperclassmen or classmates—there are quite a few couples.
Student Life
I haven’t joined any clubs, so I can’t say for sure, but from what my friends tell me, they seem to enjoy it a lot. One friend said they used to be shy but have since improved their communication skills significantly.
Review of Kaya University ②: Female / Faculty of Economics and Business Administration / Current Student / Enrolled in 2023
Overall Evaluation
I believe this is an excellent university for students who wish to study business and economics. You can learn how to use Excel and other programs from scratch, and your typing skills will also improve.
Lectures/Courses
Presentations and creating PDFs in classes like ICT are quite engaging and enjoyable.
Laboratories/Seminars
Seminars begin in the spring semester, and since this is a basic seminar, I am currently learning the fundamentals. It was a great experience for us to actually open a store during the school festival and plan how to run a business from the ground up.
Employment/Further Studies
Kaya University boasts a high employment rate of over 90%. Students can begin internships from their third year, and every year, some students secure positions at major companies during their internships.
Transportation/Location
The nearest station is Hanakoganei Station on the Seibu Shinjuku Line. Kaya University is the only university in Hanakoganei. The campus is surrounded by a large park called Koganei Park, offering a beautiful natural environment.
There is a cafeteria, free spaces accessible to everyone, and a library, making it a well-equipped facility.
Friendships/Romance
If you join clubs or extracurricular activities, you will have many opportunities for conversations and interactions, making it easy to make friends. Since the university is relatively small, students tend to get along well.
Student Life
You can watch and experience performances by the dance club or volleyball training sessions by the volleyball club, so I believe you will find a club that suits your interests.
Review of Kaya University ③: Male / Faculty of Economics and Business Administration / Current Student / Enrolled in 2023
Overall Evaluation
I think this university is suitable for students who want to focus on business and economics. There are some well-known professors, so I believe I can concentrate better on my studies.
Lectures/Courses
The atmosphere is calm, allowing you to focus on your work.
Employment/Further Studies
I don't know personally, but others say it is beneficial for job hunting.
Transportation/Location
I don't think it's too far since you can walk from the nearest Hanakoganei Station.
Since there is only one campus, I feel that the facilities are not very extensive.
Friendships/Romance
There aren't many students, so I feel that my friendships are quite strong.
Student Life
Having food stalls set up every day seems quite unusual to me.
