Reputation and Evaluations of Nagoya University of the Arts
Reputation of Nagoya University of the Arts ①: No Parking Lot
It seems that Nagoya University of the Arts does not have a parking lot.
In fact, as seen on the campus map on the university’s website, there is no parking lot.
As mentioned in reviews, this is quite inconvenient.
Reputation of Nagoya University of the Arts ②: Questionable Curriculum
It is difficult to say that the curriculum is centered on art. You won't necessarily learn what you expect to.
Few high school students check university curriculums before applying, but it's always beneficial to take a look.
You can check the curriculum on the Nagoya University of the Arts website.
Reputation of Nagoya University of the Arts ③: Well-Respected Among Foreigners
Nagoya University of the Arts enjoys a good reputation among foreigners.
Most reviews are written by foreigners. Honestly, reviews from abroad cannot be trusted. Those who come to study in Japan out of love for Japanese culture will not write negative reviews.
Therefore, our assessment comes from a different perspective from the outset.
Evaluation of Nagoya University of the Arts ①: Female / Art Faculty, Art Evaluation Department / Current Student / 2024 Enrollment
Overall Evaluation
Personally, I think the teachers are very charismatic and interesting, and many of my classmates in the same field are also very interesting, so I find the relationships and learning enjoyable.
For those who are not good at being proactive or working in groups, it might be difficult.
Lectures/Courses
I think the performing arts field involves a lot of group work.
At first, it was difficult to communicate smoothly with those around me, but I was able to make friends with people in the same field early on, and now I can attend classes in a very good atmosphere.
All the teachers are from the theater industry, so they have strong personalities and are very interesting.
I think the off-campus lectures are great because you can watch performances live and even visit backstage.
Employment/Advancement
Since this is an emerging field, there are still many issues regarding employment and academic progression, but the impression is that many seniors received job offers early on.
Transportation/Location
I think the East campus is closer to the station.
If you park your bicycle there, you won't be late, and it’s easy to get there by running.
The Performing Arts Department has studios, so classes are usually held there. Since it is newly built, it is very clean, well-equipped, and I think it is a great place to study theater.
Friends/Love
The clubs here, regardless of level, give off a friendly vibe.
There are also courses in other fields, and many cheerful people, so you can make a lot of friends.
Student Life
Since this is an art university, it seems there are many music and drama clubs, and the level seems to be quite good.
Evaluation of Nagoya University of the Arts ②: Male / Art Faculty, Art Evaluation Department / Current Student / 2023 Enrollment
Overall Evaluation
It seems that they collaborate with other courses to ensure the success of activities and create a positive atmosphere across the department.
Lectures/Courses
For professional courses, students can deepen their understanding through practical experience using actual equipment and computers.
Employment/Advancement
I think it’s pretty good. There are famous band members among them, as well as sound engineers from well-known companies who later became company presidents.
Transportation/Location
Not far. However, since the campuses are spread out, traveling is inconvenient.
There are beautiful studios and halls available for rent. The meeting rooms, however, are old and in poor condition.
Friends/Love
There are many unique individuals here, so it depends on the person, but my impression is that most people are interesting and serious.
Student Life
Since I haven’t participated, I’m not sure, but there aren’t many clubs.
Evaluation of Nagoya University of the Arts ③: Female / Art Faculty, Art Evaluation Department / Current Student / 2023 Enrollment

For those who want to study music and other art subjects in university, this is the perfect choice. You can carefully consider each of your career paths.

University life is very peaceful. They have an extensive network of friends and can take courses specifically geared toward their career paths.
Employment/Advancement
They offer specialized courses for each career path, so I think the support is adequate.
Transportation/Location
I think it’s quite accessible. There’s a station nearby, and it’s just a short walk away.
I think the building interiors are beautiful. I haven’t encountered any particular inconveniences in daily life.
Friends/Love
I have many friends, but not as much time as I’d like because I’m busy thinking about my future.
Student Life
The clubs are fairly typical, like those at regular universities, but there are other good options, so it’s not an issue.
