The answer is no.

Even on the official website, it is clearly stated: "This is a university designed for individuals with visual and hearing impairments."

Yes, there is a dormitory available.

All first-year students can choose to live there, but from the second year onward, if there are too many applicants, a lottery system is used.

By the way, moving into the dormitory is not mandatory; it’s merely an option for those who wish to do so.

Should individuals with hearing impairments choose Tsukuba University of Technology?

While the university provides strong support systems for students with disabilities, I don’t think that alone should be the reason to choose it.

Reviews of Tsukuba University of Technology

Review ①: Male / Industrial Information Department, Industrial Technology College / Current Student / Enrolled in 2021

Overall Evaluation
I think it’s a great university for those who want to study. Even if you're not particularly keen on studying, it’s still a good university, and I’ve already received a job offer from a company.

Lectures/Classes
I think it’s great as they teach in detail, especially about power generation. It's a department that will definitely be useful in the future.

Laboratories/Seminars
I’m not much into physical activities or studying, so I don’t participate much.

Employment/Advancement
It's good, but there’s a bit of a lack of employment support.

Transportation/Location
There's a garden where you can hang out with friends, and the food is great, so I don’t see any issues.

Facilities/Equipment
I’m unsure if the technology rooms I use for classes are old or new, but I like the old atmosphere, so I think it’s fine as is.

Friends/Romantic Life
I recently got a girlfriend, and I think it’s great that I can talk about it with my friends and teachers.

Student Life
There are about 10 different circles, and with so much variety, I think you’ll definitely find one that suits you.

Review ②: Male / Health Science Department, School of Health Sciences / Current Student / Enrolled in 2018

Overall Evaluation
In general, I have no complaints about my department and am quite satisfied. The facilities are fully equipped, making it a convenient place to spend time.

Lectures/Classes
I learn a lot every day, and I have no complaints or major issues.

Laboratories/Seminars
It’s enriching and wonderful, with high-quality research equipment.

Employment/Advancement
I have a good track record in both job hunting and pursuing higher education, with ample support provided.

Transportation/Location
The campus is easily accessible, and I think the location and surrounding environment are excellent.

Facilities/Equipment
The department’s facilities are well-equipped, and it’s a very comfortable place to pass the time.

Friends/Romantic Life
I have great friendships on campus, but no romantic relationships so far. Still, the friendships are fulfilling.

Student Life
The campus clubs and activities are really fun and fulfilling.

Review ③: Male / Comprehensive Design Department, Industrial Technology College / Current Student / Enrolled in 2017

Overall Evaluation
I was able to learn what I wanted. Additionally, since Tsukuba is nearby, it’s convenient to travel to Tokyo for work or join intercollegiate clubs. However, Tsukuba itself doesn’t have many commercial facilities.

Laboratories/Seminars
It’s a mixed experience. Many apply to renowned professors, but some don’t.

Transportation/Location
About 30% of students commute from home, but the last trains often leave early, making it a bit inconvenient for club activities or outings. The rent for apartments isn’t too expensive, so I recommend living in a dorm if possible.

Facilities/Equipment
The facilities aren’t particularly old or new, but they have everything you need.

Friends/Romantic Life
Both male and female students are lively, and it’s great to collaborate with them. The nearby University of Tsukuba and Tsukuba Gakuin University allow you to extend friendships beyond campus. However, Tsukuba’s layout is quite spread out, so without a car, transportation can be challenging.

Student Life
There aren’t many clubs, so it’s important to belong to one. If the members are good, people will naturally gather.
