Reputation and Evaluation of Niigata University of International and Information Studies

Reputation ①: Convenient Transportation

Niigata University of International and Information Studies is a 7-minute walk from the nearest station, Echigo-Akasuka Station.

Given that Niigata Prefecture is primarily a car-dependent society, traveling by train is quite convenient.

For those living in rural areas, a 7-minute walk, approximately 560 meters, is considered very close.

Reputation ②: Abundance of Dining Options

The campus offers numerous dining options, which helps prevent monotony.

There are two restaurants and one shop within the Niigata University of International and Information Studies campus.

Considering the size of the university, having two restaurants is quite standard.

For more information about the dining facilities, please visit the "Campus Life" section on the Niigata University of International and Information Studies website.

Reputation ③: Beautiful Cherry Blossoms

The cherry blossoms surrounding the university are exceptionally beautiful.

I visited to see them myself, and they were indeed stunning.

Although the blooms are limited to spring, they can be seen during the entrance ceremony, so be sure to look forward to it.

Evaluation ①: Female Student / International Culture Department, International College / Current Student / Enrolled in 2023

Overall Evaluation
I am quite satisfied because I can still learn what I need. However, I feel that a more globalized environment is necessary for studying languages and international fields.

Lectures/Classes
I wish we could learn more types of languages. It feels like there are fewer foreign teachers compared to other schools.
Moreover, I enrolled because I wanted to study languages and international topics, but I was surprised to find there are no international students at all. I think we should accept more international students.

Laboratories/Seminars
I believe seminars at any university can be a matter of luck, but personally, I really enjoy them.

Employment/Advancement
I don't know much about employment yet, but I think it's a good idea since there is an employment support center.

Transportation/Location
I like it because it is surrounded by nature, and you can feel the four seasons. The campus looks great, especially on sunny days.
Those who commute by train know that trains are infrequent, sometimes only one per hour. Additionally, while there are some independent cafes and restaurants, there are no chain stores nearby. The nearest station does have a convenience store, which is a plus. These points are somewhat inconvenient.

Facilities/Equipment
I find the classrooms to be relatively clean. The cafeteria food is also quite good.
There is a café on the second floor, separate from the cafeteria, and it’s excellent!

Friendships/Romance
Friendships are often formed through clubs, language classes, and seminars. I feel both men and women are stylish, with bright hair colors and glamorous styles.

Student Life
There aren't many events, but club activities are fun.

Evaluation ②: Female Student / International Culture Department, International College / Current Student / Enrolled in 2023

Overall Evaluation
For those interested in various countries and eager to learn about them, this is an excellent university. Be aware that English courses are generally taught by native speakers, so a certain level of English proficiency is necessary to understand the lectures.

Lectures/Classes
The classes are engaging as the professors often share stories from different countries within the courses.

Laboratories/Seminars
From the first year, you can choose seminars you want to join. Some seminars focus on discussions, allowing you to learn through interaction.

Employment/Advancement
Employment support starts from the second year, with teachers providing detailed guidance, which I believe will be satisfactory.

Transportation/Location
The university is about a 10 to 15-minute walk from Echigo Akatsuka Station, making it conveniently accessible. The path is straightforward, so you won't get lost. However, there are not many shops around the university, which may not be ideal for spending free time.

Facilities/Equipment
As a private school, it is well-equipped and very clean. There are areas with sofas where you can relax, as well as a library. The library even has a space for watching movies, which is perfect for film enthusiasts.

Friendships/Romance
After enrollment, you can make friends through orientation activities with your group and in clubs.

Student Life
The dance community and other groups regularly perform at the school. Additionally, various groups work independently, such as forming bands and performing songs.

Evaluation ③: Male Student / Department of Information Systems, School of Management and Information / Current Student / Enrolled in 2021

Overall Evaluation
If you are able to study independently, this university is worth attending. There are lectures and a qualification subsidy system that can be utilized effectively. However, I would not recommend it for those who are not keen on studying extensively. If you are to attend, consider a university that is valuable right after graduation. Most students are from Niigata, so the diversity is not truly felt, and the university’s name is not widely recognized. I would suggest considering other options.

Lectures/Classes
I am satisfied with the lectures themselves. However, I do not think the university offers significant advantages. It might be better to attend a well-known university or one specializing in a particular field for your exams.

Employment/Advancement
The support is excellent. Make full use of the employment support center and related lectures. My impression is that there are many employment opportunities with local companies.

Transportation/Location
It is quite convenient, being a 10-minute walk from the station. However, there are few entertainment options around the university, and the train frequency is low, with a train every 30 minutes, which can be a bit cumbersome. There is a large parking lot, which is convenient for those who drive.

Facilities/Equipment
I am not very familiar with the departmental equipment as it was not mentioned, but the gym facilities are excellent and available for anyone to use, making it a good place for those who want to exercise.

Friendships/Romance
If you join a club with many participants, your social circle will expand quickly. Most students are from Niigata, so many friendships are formed through club activities. Regarding romance, the gender ratio in the Information Systems department is poor, so I feel that joining a specific club might be beneficial.

Student Life
Many students start their own clubs, so if you cannot find one that interests you, you should consider creating one. It seems that most students do not participate in this activity.
