Reputation and Reviews of Chubu University
Reputation ①: The Road to University is Uphill
The road to the university is uphill, making commuting by bicycle quite challenging.
Most students commute by bicycle, so if the area around the university is hilly, it can be difficult to get to class.

The university campus is akin to a village.

Review ①: Male Student / Department of Civil Engineering / Current Student / Enrolled in 2023
Overall Rating
I believe this is a very good university for students who want to study. However, some students lack motivation, so it's important not to follow their lead! Additionally, the university offers a lot of support for students, so if you struggle to keep up with your studies, there are facilities available to help, which is a good thing.
Lectures/Classes
The Department of Civil Engineering frequently invites various professors and guest lecturers from outside the university, which I think broadens our perspectives. They also offer courses in CAD and other computer-aided design technologies, so even those using computers for the first time can receive support with confidence. Moreover, I didn't expect to be assigned so many assignments in the first year. Additionally, I see many students dozing off during lectures, so efforts should be made to keep them awake.
Employment/Advancement
Almost all students in the department (excluding those who drop out) seem to find jobs or continue their studies. Even first-year students can listen to company recruitment explanations, which I think is motivating for them.
Transport/Location
I think the location of Chubu University is not ideal. There are buses to the university, but if you take the first class in the morning, you may not know if you can make it on time, so it's best to leave home early. *I commute by bicycle from the station.
Facilities/Equipment
Considering the tuition I pay, I feel there are many old buildings here. I would like to see more maintenance of the facilities.
Friends/Romance
I'm in the School of Engineering, so it's understandable that there are fewer girls, but don't worry too much about making friends; you can easily make friends by talking to people around your student number.
Student Life
People say that if you don't join a club, you can't make friends, so it's best to join one. There are many unique clubs and circles, which is quite interesting.
Review ②: Male Student / Department of Psychology, Faculty of Humanities / Current Student / Enrolled in 2023
Overall Rating
I find this department quite excellent, with ample facilities that make learning easy. The facilities are clean and well-equipped with new equipment.
Lectures/Classes
The lectures by professors are very easy to understand and enjoyable. The professor is very dignified.
Laboratories/Seminars
Carefully choose your seminar teacher. Sometimes there can be bad teachers, so be cautious.
Employment/Advancement
Many students aim to become certified psychologists and pursue graduate studies, so consider this path as well.
Transport/Location
The commute is quite difficult due to a steep incline that must be traversed.
Facilities/Equipment
The facilities are decent but not exceptionally good, somewhat average.
Friends/Romance
This is a fun club where you don't need to worry about romance, so I hope you join.
Student Life
There are many circles to choose from, but they are not very populated. Therefore, I work part-time, where there are many people.
Review ③: Female Student / Department of Public Health Nursing, Faculty of Life and Health Sciences / Current Student / Enrolled in 2023
Overall Rating
The facilities are spacious and well-equipped. Students have been diligently preparing for the national exams since this year. I believe this is a fairly good university for the nursing department.
Lectures/Classes
Many of the teachers are very friendly! I thought that in university, unlike in high school, you would be distant from your teachers, but that is not the case; all the teachers are approachable. From the beginning of the year, they have been guiding us with graduation in mind, and I can feel that their actions are in our best interest.
Employment/Advancement
From the first summer vacation, you can voluntarily participate in hospital briefings.
Transport/Location
The route is uphill and quite strenuous. There is a bus from the nearest station that, if you board early, will take you to the top. There are plenty of parking spaces.
Facilities/Equipment
Recently, an LGBT restroom was opened. There are many trees, so I often encounter bees in the summer, which I dislike.
Friends/Romance
It's best to find an older lover from the same department. If you join a club with people from the same department, it will be easier to make friends.
Student Life
There are events like bicycle races with bikes we meticulously crafted, as well as autumn festivals.
