In March of this year, the employment rate for Japanese university graduates reached 98.1%, marking the highest level on record. This appears to be attributed to labor shortages, favoring students in a seller's market.
According to statistics from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, as of April 1st, the employment rate for university graduates who graduated in March of this year was 98.1%.
This represents an increase of 0.8 percentage points from the previous year, marking the highest employment rate since statistics began in 1997.
Furthermore, the employment rate for students of junior colleges and vocational schools reached 97.5%, hitting an all-time high.
On the other hand, the employment rate for Japanese college students was 97.4%, a decrease of 0.7 percentage points from the previous year, but still at a relatively high level.
The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare analyzed these results, stating, "Due to the waning impact of the novel coronavirus, labor shortages have emerged. Companies are actively recruiting, and the seller's market continues."
