Reputation and Evaluation of Osaka City University

Osaka City University Reputation ①: Expansive Campus

Below is the campus map of Osaka City University.

Due to the large number of students, the campus is also quite spacious.

Osaka City University Reputation ②: Free School Culture

This is a university with a liberal educational style. You can grow freely as you wish.

There aren't many research projects, and attendance for each class is not enforced.

You can be lazy or work hard—it's up to you.

Osaka City University Reputation ③: Prime Location

The travel times from the stations near Osaka City University are as follows:

  • 5 minutes walk from Sugimotocho Station
  • 15 minutes walk from Wosonozono Station

Convenient transportation and excellent location.

There are also many shops around the university, making it a very pleasant place to spend time.

Osaka City University Evaluation ①: Male / Nursing Science Department / Current Student / Enrolled in 2022

Overall Evaluation: I can say it's very good. The courses are also interesting.

Lectures/Classes: There are some interesting courses, but it depends on the individual. The course content is just what the teacher lectures, so all you have to do is listen. (Some courses involve guessing and group assignments, but they are not very difficult.)

Employment/Promotion: I feel they have given me some support. There is a lot of information coming in, but unless you take action, that information won't come to you.

Transportation/Location: Feels far, but it's only a 15-minute walk from the nearest station. Also, because the campus is large, it takes more time if you're in the back classrooms. But that's fine too.

Facilities/Equipment: The entire school is equipped with Wi-Fi. Of course, depending on the classroom, there are some areas where it's hard to get a signal.

Friends/Romance: If you belong to a club, association, or committee, your workload will increase to a degree that you cannot understand its significance.

Student Life: There are many clubs, some engaging in the same sports, but others different, with some clubs engaging in multiple sports.

Osaka City University Evaluation ②: Female / Department of Biological Sciences / Current Student / Enrolled in 2021

Overall Evaluation: This class is very interesting. The experiments are particularly engaging. It's fascinating to see teachers from different fields discussing what they're researching in class.

Lectures/Classes: The specialized subject courses are interesting. However, depending on the teacher, you may not understand what the teacher is saying, what's written on the board is all incorrect, and some subjects require you to look up on your own later. There are many general education courses that I'm not interested in, but I have no choice but to take them because I need credits to graduate. That's why I choose courses based on the difficulty of getting credits, rather than the areas I'm interested in. Teacher training courses are very difficult. I have a lot of homework almost every day from morning to night.

Employment/Promotion: There's a LINE group for club activities that provides job search guidance. I often receive emails from the school with job search information.

Transportation/Location: Close to the station. The venue is close, but the teaching buildings are far. There are bento shops and Indian curry shops in the area, but no trendy cafes. There's a tram every 15 to 20 minutes, so if you miss it, you'll be in trouble.

Facilities/Equipment: There are some beautiful buildings. Whether students have their own lockers varies by department. At least, students in the Department of Science do not have lockers.

Friends/Romance: It's easy to make friends within the same department. Romantic relationships also depend on the gender ratio, which I think depends on the undergraduate department. In general education courses, you'll be in class with people from other departments, so if you want to make friends, you can also make friends with people from other departments.

Student Life: I think there are many clubs and associations. I'm not sure because many activities have been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
