There were changes in the top 10 rankings for public schools.

The "Japanese University Popularity Rankings (Compiled as of February 29, 2024)" have been published on their website, including national, public, and private universities on both national and prefectural levels. The survey period ranged from April 2021 to February 2024.
In the popularity rankings of Japanese universities, the top-ranking national public university is the University of Tokyo, followed by Tsukuba University in second place and Kyoto University in third place. Osaka University ranks fourth, while Nagoya University holds the fifth position. Among the top 30 universities, there were only position changes between the 18th and 19th spots, with Yamagata University at 18th and Tokyo Institute of Technology at 19th. The rankings of leading universities remained stable.

For public universities, the rankings are as follows:

- Shizuoka Prefectural University
- Kitakyushu University City University
Among the top 10 schools, there's a gap in rankings between the two universities that were previously ranked 8th. Akita International University is now ranked 8th, while Hyogo University is ranked 9th. Additionally, Niigata Prefectural University has risen to 28th place, while Tokiwagakuen University has dropped from 29th to 30th place.
For private universities, the rankings are as follows:

The rankings of Rikkyo University and Hosei University have been fluctuating each month since the end of November. However, this time, they've maintained their rankings from the end of January last year, with Hosei University at 13th place and Rikkyo University at 14th place. The rankings of the top 30 universities remain unchanged.
In the popularity rankings by prefecture, the top public and national universities in Tokyo are the University of Tokyo, followed by Hitotsubashi University and Yokohama National University. The top public university is Tokyo Metropolitan University, followed by Yokohama City University and Akita International University. The top private universities are Aoyama Gakuin University, Meiji University, and Keio University.
In Osaka, the top national and public universities are Osaka University, followed by the University of Tokyo and Kobe University. The top public universities are Osaka Prefecture University, Hyogo Prefectural University, and Kyoto Prefectural University. The top private universities are Kinki University, Kansai University, and Ritsumeikan University. The rankings of the top three institutions in Tokyo and Osaka regions across national, public, and private sectors remain unchanged.
