The compact car disappeared from the top 10 list in February.
On March 6th, the Japan Automobile Dealers Association and the Japan Light Motor Vehicle Association released the new vehicle sales rankings for February 2024, categorized by vehicle model. In February, Toyota's Corolla led the passenger car category with sales of 14,841 units, while Honda Motor Company's N-BOX topped the light vehicle category with sales of 16,542 units.
Due to certification fraud and the subsequent suspension of major model shipments, Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd.'s vehicle models disappeared from the top 10 rankings of light vehicles in February. In contrast, Suzuki's Jimny ranked ninth in the light vehicle category with sales of 3,755 units.

In February 2024, the top three passenger cars by name in terms of new car sales were as follows:
- Toyota "Corolla": 14,841 units (a year-on-year increase of 100.7%)
- Toyota "Yaris": 12,495 units (a year-on-year increase of 79.3%)
- Nissan "Note": 10,010 units (a year-on-year increase of 93.5%)
