In recent days, a 34-year-old Chinese woman, identified on Douyin as zhang0320777, has posted a video showcasing the Japanese island she purchased, sparking discussions and swiftly ascending to the top of the trending charts. According to the woman, who identifies herself as the "owner" of the island, it spans 700,000 square meters, and she acquired it in 2020 with perpetual usufructuary rights. While she refrains from disclosing the exact price of the island, she hinted that the starting bid was 600,000, with the final acquisition cost adding at least two more zeros and denominated in US dollars—amounting to no less than 60 million USD. She envisions using the island for leisure, potentially reselling or leasing it, and exploring collaborative development opportunities—a testament to her affluent discretion.

The island is named Yanaha Island, an uninhabited isle that, as depicted in the video, offers picturesque scenery, crystal-clear waters, and glimpses of diverse marine life and coral reefs. Yanaha Island is under the jurisdiction of Okinawa Prefecture, Japan, situated just over a kilometer from the inhabited village of Izena and approximately 30 kilometers from the Okinawa Main Island. In comparison to some more remote islands, Yanaha Island presents a relatively lower cost for subsequent development, and its geographical advantages make it an appealing prospect for the establishment of tourism initiatives.

The videos on the woman's Douyin account reveal that the 700,000-square-meter expanse of Yanaha Island has been subdivided into over 220 individual plots for sale. She personally acquired 177 of these parcels, with each plot possessing a dedicated land title. The amassed land titles, representing her acquired properties, form a substantial stack attesting to her ownership.

However, some netizens in the comment section have shared images indicating that Yanaha Island was purchased by Gichoshoji Corporation in March of Reiwa 3 (2021). This conflicts with the transaction timeline mentioned by the Chinese woman. Questions arise about the connection between this woman and the corporation. Could it be that the corporation acquired the remaining plots of land? The precise details remain unclear and necessitate further investigation.
