Japan Ranks Among the Top 10 of 2023 'Best Countries in the World' Ranking

The 2023 edition of the "Best Countries in the World" ranking has been released, and Japan has secured a position in the top ten. The primary reason for Japan's ranking is its high ratings in tourism and safety, which may be a reasonable assessment. This ranking is conducted by "U.S. News & World Report" and marks the eighth year of its publication.

This survey covers 87 countries globally, with approximately 17,000 respondents providing scores for each country based on 73 different perspectives, categorized into ten areas (including tourism, innovation, cultural influence, entrepreneurial spirit, tradition, flexibility, business, national power, quality of life, and social purpose).

The rankings and scores for the top 10 are as follows, with Japan receiving a score of 95.1 and ranking sixth:

Among these ten categories, Japan scored the highest in the "entrepreneurship" category, with a score of 95.2, ranking third. Evaluation criteria for this category include "innovation," "educational availability," "labor skills," "technical expertise," "digital environment," and "international relationships."

In the "progressiveness" category, assessed from the perspectives of "creativity," "modernity," and "adaptability," Japan ranked sixth with a score of 86.3. Furthermore, in the "cultural influence" category, it ranked fifth with a score of 80.8. In addition to its high praise for its presence in the entertainment industry, it is also considered for its "fashionable," "modern," and "trendy" aspects.

On the other hand, a category where there is room for improvement is "social purpose," with a score of 29.2. This category includes viewpoints such as "environmental considerations," "human rights," "climate change mitigation," and "gender equality."
