Top 20 Best Cities in the World for 2026: London Takes the Crown Again (With Full Cost of Living Breakdown)

If you're still figuring out your travel plans for 2026, this list may help you choose your next destination!

Data research firm Resonance recently released its annual Best Cities report. They rank the most influential and affluent cities around the world.

They looked at more than 400 metro areas with more than 1 million people. Scores fall from three big categories: vibrancy, loveliness, and richness. Things like family-friendly locations, how easy it is to get around, public transportation, nightlife, and overall economic health play a role. They also explored real user content—photos, videos, reviews, and check-ins—from Google, Instagram, TikTok to see true popularity.

In the 2026 rankings, classics from Europe, America and Asia dominate the board. The Middle East also makes inroads. What is surprising? Hot spots like Mexico City and Miami could not even make the top 20.
