Review of Tokyo Junshin University ①: Female / Faculty of Nursing, Department of Nursing / Current Student / Enrolled in 2023

Overall Evaluation
The fee for a makeup exam is 3,000 yen, which is very expensive. I think it’s great that you can consult immediately at the consultation office if you have any issues.

Lectures/Courses
Even though I absolutely deserved the credits, I unfairly failed. The teachers change the courses arbitrarily, so sometimes I have to suddenly adjust my plans.

Labs/Seminars
Because this department doesn’t have any research labs or seminars. It’s hard to focus because even when you’re trying to concentrate, some teachers suddenly start talking.

Employment/Advancement
I wouldn’t really recommend it because last year’s national nursing exam pass rate was 80%.

Transportation/Location
There are very few buses from Hachioji Station. The bus is crowded because of high school students.
The slope from the bus stop to the building is very steep and exhausting. I think it’ll be icy and slippery in winter.

Friends/Romance
There are a lot of girls, so you can make many friends, but it’s hard to find a boyfriend. And because there are so many girls, there might be some tension.

Student Life
There are too many things that aren’t funny!! They’re forced to do things they’re not interested in, like worshiping Christianity.

Review of Tokyo Junshin University ②: Female / Faculty of Nursing, Department of Nursing / Current Student / Enrolled in 2023

Overall Evaluation
There are final exams and quizzes, so I think it’s a good university for people who want to study hard in college. It’s great because there are courses in the field I want to study.

Lectures/Courses
The school offers lectures in various specialized nursing fields. Besides nursing, you can also study the Japanese Constitution, sociology, psychology, and more. You can ask questions and get answers on the spot, and by studying the lecture content, you can prepare for the national exam.

Labs/Seminars
Students are provided with very supportive internship locations, such as St. Marianna University School of Medicine, so they can have satisfying internship experiences. Most of the first-year courses are mandatory, but in the third and fourth years, seminars are held where students can study specialized fields like cancer and clinical medicine.

Employment/Advancement
You can also prepare for the national exam in class, so if you listen carefully, you can pass it within a year. Many students later find jobs at St. Marianna University School of Medicine.

Transportation/Location
Buses depart from Hachioji City and Haijima City. There’s a FamilyMart convenience store near the school, and many people go there to buy lunch. The area is surrounded by lots of nature, including trees and flowers. There’s a university dormitory, so some students commute from there.
The school is on a steep hill, so it’s hard to get there. Honestly, the latter is pretty old, and I hope it gets rebuilt soon. The cafeteria and gym are far from the latter, which is inconvenient.

Friends/Romance
Since everyone is working toward the same dream, their friendships deepen over the four years. There are almost no clubs or extracurricular activities. There’s very little romance. The girl-to-boy ratio is 9:1.

Student Life
The Maria Festival (cultural festival) is held in October, and the Christmas event at Junshin Children’s Country is held in December. At the Maria Festival, first-year students set up stalls. At the Children’s Country Christmas, students invite kids from Hachioji City to read picture books and perform plays together.

Review of Tokyo Junshin University ③: Female / Faculty of Nursing, Department of Nursing / Current Student / Enrolled in 2022

Overall Evaluation
It’s neither good nor bad. It’s not a problem, but it’s not helpful either. It depends on the teacher. The good ones are really good, but some people just don’t like them.

Lectures/Courses
I don’t have any complaints because every teacher teaches thoroughly. There’s nothing particularly great about it.

Labs/Seminars
I don’t know yet because I haven’t done any practice in labs or seminars.

Employment/Advancement
Most students plan to get a scholarship from St. Marianna University and then go straight into employment.

Transportation/Location
You have to climb a hill to get to the school, and there’s no convenience store on campus, but there’s one at the bottom of the hill. It’s quite a hassle to go there, so my impression is that not many people go except to smoke.
There are elevators, so that’s not an issue, but there are only two main elevators, so it might get crowded in the morning, and you could be late.

Friends/Romance
It depends on the people involved. If there are troublemakers involved, it can get really messy.

Student Life
Nothing happens; there’s no sports festival, and barely a cultural festival. Yes, but we only have a few stalls.
