Student Review ①: Male / Department of Instrumental Music / Current Student / Enrolled in 2023
Overall Assessment
It is a huge misconception to think that art universities are full of geniuses. For better or worse, about 80% of the students are ordinary people.
Lectures/Classes
You can receive high-level music education and courses. However, the quality of general subjects varies.
Laboratories/Seminars
Classes are about once a week, depending on the instructor. The courses are very fulfilling.
Employment/Advancement
Not many students seek traditional jobs; many become freelance musicians.
Transport/Location
It’s a 10-minute walk from Ueno, making it very convenient. The ginkgo trees in autumn have a foul odor.
Facilities/Equipment
Very outdated. I heard that a skylight in the art department fell, the walls in the music department are peeling, and there is graffiti everywhere.
Friends/Romance
As in any university, relationships are not as close as in high school. You need to actively make friends to form close relationships.
Student Life
There are many music-related clubs, which are very fulfilling. There is also a regular sports club.
