Nagoya City University Ascended to the Third Position in the Popularity Ranking of Universities in November 2023


JS Corporation has unveiled the "University Popularity Ranking" for November. According to the statistics as of November 30, 2023, in the nationwide ranking of 193,548 high school students, the national university leading the chart is "The University of Tokyo," the public university is "Osaka Public University," and among private institutions, it is "Aoyama Gakuin University." Within the public universities, the previously ranked fourth, "Nagoya City University," has ascended to the third position, resulting in a shift in the top three.

JS Corporation, managing a school information website, conducted a survey among 193,548 high school students regarding their preferences for universities. The "University Popularity Rankings (as of November 30, 2023)" have been published on their website, encompassing national, public, and private universities on both national and prefectural levels. The survey period spans from April 2021 to November 2023.

Among the public universities, the rankings are as follows: 1st place is held by "Osaka Public University," 2nd place by "Tokyo Metropolitan University," 3rd place by "Nagoya City University," 4th place by "Shizuoka Prefectural University," and 5th place by "Kitakyushu City University." Notably, Shizuoka Prefectural University, previously at the 3rd position, and Nagoya City University, formerly 4th, have exchanged positions. Kyoto Prefectural University, previously ranked 13th, has risen to the 10th position. Miyagi University and Fukuoka Prefectural University, previously tied at 9th place, now hold the 11th and 12th positions, respectively. Although the lineup remains unchanged, there have been shifts in rankings.

Among private universities, the standings are as follows: 1st place is occupied by "Aoyama Gakuin University," 2nd place by "Keio University," 3rd place by "Kinki University," 4th place by "Meiji University," and 5th place by "Waseda University." "Kansai University," previously 7th, has risen to the 6th position, sharing it with "Sophia University." The previous 19th-ranked "Japan Sport Science University" and 20th-ranked "Kansai Gakuin University" have exchanged positions. The lineup beyond the 24th place remains unchanged, but there are changes in rankings.


In the popularity rankings by prefecture, the national and public universities within Tokyo are ranked as follows: 1st place is held by "The University of Tokyo," 2nd place by "Hitotsubashi University," and 3rd place by "Chiba University." Chiba University has seen an improvement in rankings since the last assessment. Among public universities, the rankings are: 1st place is "Tokyo Metropolitan University," 2nd place is "Yokohama City University," and 3rd place is "Akita International University." Among private universities, the standings are: 1st place is "Aoyama Gakuin University," 2nd place is "Meiji University," and 3rd place is "Keio University."

In Osaka, among national and public universities, 1st place is claimed by "Osaka University," 2nd place by "The University of Tokyo," and 3rd place by "Kobe University." Among public universities, 1st place is "Osaka Public University," 2nd place is "Hyogo Prefectural University," and 3rd place is "Kyoto Prefectural University."
