Kamakura Daibutsu(鎌倉大仏殿高徳院)

The Kamakura Daibutsu is a symbol of Kamakura tourism, with a history of over 750 years in Kamakura. Standing at approximately 11.3 meters tall and weighing around 121 tons, it is a globally renowned colossal figure.

Originally built in the mid-15th century, Odawara Castle gained fame as the residence of the Hojo clan during Japan's Warring States period. Known for its formidable structure, the castle served as a crucial fortress in the Kanto region during the Edo period. It stands as a proud cultural heritage of Odawara, playing a significant role until the end of the Edo period.

However, in 1870, Odawara Castle was abandoned, and most of its structures were dismantled. The remaining stone walls were completely destroyed in the 1923 Great Kanto Earthquake. Parts of the main enclosure, secondary enclosure, and the overall structure of the present Odawara Castle ruins were designated as a national historic site. The donjon was restored in 1960, the Tokiwagi-mon gate in 1971, the copper gate in 1997, and the Uma-shita-mon gate in 2009.
